Scientific AI Inference & Potential LANL Commercialization
Research and planning toward domain-specific, locally operated AI inference infrastructure for scientific and engineering environments. The proposed architecture combines next-generation NVIDIA Blackwell GPU systems with custom model-serving backends, inference harnesses, orchestration systems, and specialized interfaces.
Technical directions
- High-performance local AI inference
- Domain-specific machine learning
- Scientific & engineering workflow integration
- Proprietary backend inference frameworks
- Agent orchestration & reasoning harnesses
- Controlled computing & data environments
- High-performance GPU infrastructure
Institutional context
The founder is exploring potential commercialization opportunities involving Los Alamos National Laboratory, including possible entrepreneurial-leave and technology-transfer pathways associated with the Richard P. Feynman Center for Innovation.
The research is also conceptually aligned with certain technical objectives of the United States Genesis Mission, established through a November 2025 executive order. That alignment describes shared technical interests only.
Current standing
- No partnership with Los Alamos National Laboratory has been approved.
- Entrepreneurial leave is under consideration and has not been finalized.
- Smith & Tinker does not operate inside LANL and has no access to laboratory systems, datasets, or infrastructure.
- Smith & Tinker is not a participant in, and is not endorsed by, the Genesis Mission.
- NVIDIA Blackwell GPU systems have not been purchased or deployed.
